Invitation to Join the Walla Walla Civility Project

We had a successful Walla Walla Civility Project booth cosponsored by the Walla Walla Diversity Coalition at the Juneteenth festival in Pioneer Park. We’ll also be having another booth at the Fourth of July Festival in the park, and we hope you can stop by.

We received dozens of Civility Pledges from people visiting the Juneteenth booth, as well as requests for further information about the Walla Walla Civility Project.  In addition, people created a variety of colorful civility messages posted on helping hands for our Community Civility Tree.

Copies of handouts from the booth, including the Civility Pledge, can be found below. We encourage you to pass on to other people and organizations who you think might be interested in making the Pledge, or in becoming involved in these efforts as partners, members or volunteers. These documents are also on the new Walla Walla Civility Project website at www.wwcivilityproject.blogspot.com.

As the handouts mention, there are a variety of tools available to help us open and continue important dialogues with those with whom we have disagreements or differing perspectives, both as listeners and speakers.  These tools can be enhanced by participation in a training workshop.

If you are interested in training or otherwise participating in the Walla Walla Civility Project, please email civilityprojectww@gmail.com, call 509-593-0470, or write to Walla Walla Civility Project, PO Box 1222, Walla Walla WA 99362.
