Walla Walla Union Bulletin
The historic Edgewater Park Dance Pavilion will come to life at a free, big band dance to be held 7 p.m., May 29 at Heritage Square Park, 116 E. Main St.
From the 1920s to the 1940s the Edgewater pavilion, located on the south bank of Mill Creek in downtown Walla Walla across from the present Heritage Square Park, was considered one of the finest outdoor dance facilities in the country, featuring both local and touring bands.
Walla Walla 2020 will present a big band dance to recreate the Edgewater experience and to dedicate a sign commemorating the historic dance pavilion.
The event will feature two jazz ensembles from the Walla Walla Community Bands, as well as a string of lights around the dance area reminiscent of the lights surrounding the historic pavilion.
The 18-piece Main Street Jazz Band will play at 7 p.m., followed by the 17-piece Mill Creek Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m.
