Dedication ceremony for new heritage site sign honoring The Walla Walla Tractor Show of 1919 on Russell Creek Road
The public is invited to a dedication ceremony at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 11 at the Robert McKinney farm, 196 Foster Road, for a new heritage site sign on Russell Creek Road honoring the Walla Walla Tractor Show of 1919.
The ceremony will feature brief talks by Linda Herbert, who authored a book on the 1919 Tractor Show published by the Blue Mountain Land Trust, and also co-produced a YouTube documentary on the show, as well as Robert McKinney who currently farms the ground where the tractor show took place.
Following the talks there will be a ribbon-cutting for the sign on Russell Creek Road next to the Tractor Show location.
The history of the Tractor Show will also be featured on the website of the citizens group Walla Walla 2020, which has placed this new sign along with signage for over twenty other heritage sites in the county, which can be found at ww2020.net/historic-sites/.
