Commemorative Activities for the 160th Anniversary of the Second Walla Walla Treaty Council & Stevens Skirmish
On Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, commemorative activities for the 160th anniversary of the Second Walla Walla Treaty Council and Stevens Skirmish will begin at 3 pm at the Walla Walla Community College Water & Environmental Center rotunda, with talks that will include Walla Walla Chief Carl Sampson and regional historian Sam Pambrun, whose ancestors were present at the council and skirmish. The talks will be followed at 4 p.m. by the dedication of a new Walla Walla 2020 interpretive sign along the Mill Creek trail, after which interested participants may carpool to the end of the spillway leading to Bennington Lake for a tour of the skirmish site.
