Welcome to Walla Walla 2020

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Walla Walla 2020 website. 2023 marks our 35-year anniversary as a non-profit organization of volunteers who work together to protect and enhance the quality of life in the Walla Walla Valley. We strive to be proactive by proposing positive initiatives and practical solutions to problems that, left unchecked, could threaten agriculture, natural resources such as clean air and water, and the remarkable beauty of this area.

Walla Walla 2020 members have played key roles in making this a more vibrant community with generous donations of their time and energy. Our strength is in our volunteers who work tirelessly within their focus areas and study groups to promote a more sustainable and healthy community conducive to living, working, creating, and raising a family. Our volunteers have planted trees in parks and waysides, created bike lanes throughout the town, encouraged public art, and supported the farmers market.

Several million dollars have come to our county because of Walla Walla 2020 grant initiatives for recycling and waste management, non-motorized transportation and downtown renovation. The Walla Walla 2020 historic plaques that you see on homes and businesses around town encourage preservation of our rich architectural history and remind us to think about what Walla Walla will look like in years to come. Check out our interactive map of historic properties on this website.

I am proud to serve on the Walla Walla 2020 board of directors with about fifteen other voting members. We also have a broader general membership base that supports and helps with Walla Walla 2020 activities. Our focus areas are
